Mahasingdogri tampel

In 1899, Lt. Hirem Cox rebuilt the village of Ankhuncha to resettle tens of thousands of Arakanese refugees, and Lt. Hirem Cox renamed the village Cox's Bazar after him. When all the Arakanese refugees began to persecute after the occupation of Arakan by the Burmese or Burmese, they settled in various places, including seeking refuge. Together with the locals, he decided to set up a Buddha statue at the site and started building a local Buddhist institution with the help of local devout worshipers. The rest of the unfinished work was completed by the locals (Rakhine Buddhists) the following year after Mr. Cox died. The Buddhist institution was then renamed "Mahasingdogri". The local Rakhine Buddhists erected a statue there. This statue was brought here from Arakan with the direct help of Mr. Cox. Its name "Kathet Asan" is still considered very sacred. Every year thousands of devout Buddhists worship and pay homage to the sacred image of the Buddha.
