The city of Sylhet of 360 Auliyas is known as 'Punyabhumi'. Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) is one of the saints and saints lying on the ground of Sylhet. And that is why he is called Olikul Shiromani. Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA) was admired by people of all religions. Every year people of all religions and castes can be seen visiting the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA). 


What to see

There is a pond to the north of the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA). Numerous carrot fish have enhanced the beauty of this pond. It is said that Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) came to Sylhet with 360 Auliya and brought carrot fish. The visitors are happy to see these fish floating in the pond and feed the fish. There is a well next to the shrine of Shahjalal (RA). Gold and silver colored fish can be seen in this well.




It is rumored that Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia, on learning of the spiritual power of Hazrat Shahjalal (ra), welcomed him and gave him a pair of surma-colored pigeons as a gift. That pigeon is now widely known as Jalali pigeon. Pigeons entertain the visitors by flocking to the shrine.


To the south of the shrine is a two-foot-wide house inlaid with grillage stars. It was used as a shrine by Hazrat Shahjalal (RA). It is said that Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) spent about 23 years in worship here. On the left side of the Dargah Madrasa building, in the house of Mufti Nazimuddin Ahmed, there are various things used by the visitors such as swords, clogs, plates, bowls etc. used by Hazrat Shahjalal (RA).


The main Dargah Sharif of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) is a holy place, pay attention to the sanctity of the Dargah when traveling.
